Both cycle tours I offer have become very popular with growing interest among cyclists. They both take you to the most rural and beautiful areas of Cuba while allowing time to discover the culture, learn about the history and enjoy some cities as well as time to relax on a few of Cuba's magnificent beaches. Although I have listed distances for each day, we will have a bus with a trailer to carry the bikes should you wish to climb aboard if you get tired or the weather is too hot for you. The bus will also carry all luggage and will stop at designated distances for you to replenish water bottles or have a snack (bring your own energy bars, etc.)

You will discover, if you have been to other web sites offering cycle tours to Cuba, that my tours are of the highest quality and the best price. I hope you will read some of the testimonials and if you are thinking of a cycle tour to Cuba that you consider cuba1tours.

The Maximum number I take on this tour is 14 and it is on a first come basis so EARLY BOOKING IS IMPORTANT. Hope to have you along and know you will enjoy it.

CYCLE TOUR # 1 CENTRAL/WEST CUBA -
November 23 to December 7, 2008

February 15 to March 1, 2009

Day 1 Arrive in Varadero, Cuba direct from Vancouver, or most major gateways from Canada. Transfer to your 4 * all inclusive hotel on the the golden sand beaches of Varadero. You will have time to assemble your bike and be ready to do some cycling around the Varadero penninsula. We will leave our bike boxes, bags or cases at the hotel where they will be stored until our return.
Day 2 This day will be a free day to acclimatize to Cuba and make any necessary adjustments to your bikes.
Day 3 -Breakfast and transfer bikes to Jose Smith Gomas, a location just beyond the city of Cardenas. This will get us to the main road we will be cycling on. We will cycle fairly flat paved secondary roads where you will get a taste of the Cuban countryside. Our destination is Banos de Elguea hotel/spa where we will spend the night. Dinner at the hotel. Box lunch is included. (Approx. 70 kms)
Day 4 Breakfast and cycle similar roads to the previous day to the town of Sagua la Grande (approx. 70 kms) with our final destination the city of Santa Clara which is home to an impressive monument dedicated to Che Guevara, the Argentinean doctor who was instrumental in the Cuban revolution. Accommodation and dinner will be at hotel Granjita or Las Canayes. Box lunch is included.
Day 5 Breakfast and this day our destination is Santci Spiritus, the second oldest city in Cuba with incredible colonial architecture and narrow cobble stone streets. We will cycle direct from the hotel to the town of Cabaiguan (approx. 70 kms) and then continue by bus to our hotel or those wishing to continue another 20 22 kms can do so. Accommodation will be at Villa Rancho Hatuey about 4 kms north of the city. Dinner will be at the Villa. Box lunch included. (last year we had to change the route due to road closure)
Day 6 Breakfast and cycle along paved, rolling roads in a beautiful valley with little traffic. The Escambray mountains will be on your right and small villages and country homes on either side of the road. This is a great area. Our destination is Playa Ancon, the best beach on the Caribbean side of Cuba, with accommodation at the all inclusive Ancon hotel or Brisas Trinidad del Mar right on the beach. You will be about 13 kms from the heritage town of Trinidad. (Approx. 79 kms)
Day 7 Free day to relax on the beach or optional tour to Trinidad. You will be in all inclusive.  (If you wish to arrange for the Cuban guide and driver to take you for a tour of Trinidad this day you should pay extra for this)
Day 8 Breakfast and transfer bikes to the far side of Trinidad to begin cycling along the coast and then inland on paved easy roads with not much traffic. Our destination is the City of Cienfuegos which is one of the cleanest cities in Cuba. Accommodation and dinner will be at hotel Union in the centre of the city,~ a great location for discovering the city. There is a possibility of taking in a baseball game. Box lunch included. (Approx. 88 kms)
Day 9 Breakfast and cycle through the Cuban countryside to the freeway (Approx. 69 kms)and then load ourselves and bikes onto the bus and transfer to Havana (about two  hours driving). We will stay in a quiet area of Havana in the district of Miramar Playa at the 4* Occidental Miramar hotel. Dinner at the hotel. Box lunch included.
Day 10 Breakfast and guided bus/walking tour of the city. Lunch not included, but I would recommend eating together in Havana’s China Town. Afternoon will be free to wander on your own or go back to the hotel to relax around the pool. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 11 Breakfast and drive bikes to the Auto Pista (freeway) to avoid driving through the city traffic. The Auto Pista is wide, flat with little traffic. We will cycle this highway until we arrive at the turn-off for Soroa which takes us on an uphill journey surrounded by beautiful scenery. We will spend the night in the Soroa area at the Soroa hotel. Box lunch included and dinner at the hotel. (Approx. 72 kms). There is a famous orchid garden close to the hotel which is highly recommended to visit.
Day 12 Breakfast and transfer bikes to Bahia Honda to start our cycle to Vinales. There is very little traffic in this area and you will enjoy the scenery. I encourage you to take the time to stop and meet the locals. You have a choice of packing your bike in the bus at any point, but our cycling destination is Vinales (approx. 86 kms) Accommodation and dinner will be at Hotel San Vicente, La Ermita or Las Jazmines. Box lunch included.
Day 13 Breakfast and day is free and you have options of hanging out in this charming town or the hotel or coming on a short excursion to a natural swimming hole with a small waterfall. Lunch  not included and dinner at the hotel.
Day 14 Breakfast and transfer by bus to Varadero with accommodation at the same all inclusive hotel where we started.  We should arrive in time for lunch.
Day 15 Transfer to the airport for your return flight.
