DISCOVER EAST CUBA TOUR

JANUARY 8TH – 18TH, 2025

Like all my tours, you will receive the best introduction to Cuba. The tour begins with an overnight stay at one of the first towns in Cuba, Gibara…a small, seaside fishing village, before heading off on a fully guided excursion of the island’s eastern region. You will learn about the rich history of Cuba while discovering the culture, architecture, and nature, and most importantly, meet the people and experience how they live in this unique system. You will visit areas outside of the heavily traveled destinations of most tourists. This tour ends back in the beach region of Holguin at a 4-star all-inclusive resort for your final two nights before catching your flight home to Canada. You will also have free time to do your own thing and since all my tours are limited to 14 people, you will also get to know the people you are traveling with.

Havana, Cuba

If you are interested in this tour, booking EARLY is important as flight availability is limited, and rooms in Cuba are booked quickly. Please read through the program, and I hope to have you along.

TO CONFIRM THIS TOUR, I WILL NEED A MINIMUM OF 8 PEOPLE

Compare the quality and the price to other companies offering similar tours…Cuba1tours is best in both.  All our accommodations are in hotels with 3 to 5 star ratings.

DAILY ITINERARY (WESTJET flights are recommended as program based on Westjet flight schedules)

Day 1 – Arrive at Holguin airport on the northeast end of the island and transfer to the coastal fishing village of Gibara, where you will spend the night in a small boutique hotel in the center of the town.  This will allow you to walk around the safe streets and get your first taste of Cuba.  We will either have dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 – Breakfast and transfer to one of the cleanest cities in Cuba, Bayamo, home to the country’s national anthem.  We will stay at another boutique hotel that looks onto the main square and downtown, which is foot traffic only.  Accommodation and dinner at Hotel Royalton.  (Lunch NOT included)

Day 3 – Breakfast and transfer to an all-inclusive resort near the coastal town of Pilon, in the province of Granma, where Fidel Castro returned from Mexico to begin the revolution.  Accommodation at Marrea dell Portillo resort.

Day 4 – After breakfast, we begin our coastal journey to Santiago, the second-largest city in Cuba.  If the road is passable, it is one of the most spectacular drives in Cuba.  Accommodation and dinner will be at Melia Santiago. (Lunch NOT included)

Day 5 – Breakfast and a guided city tour to learn about the history and get an overview of this fascinating place.  Included in the tour is a visit to Revolution Square, the cemetery where Jose Marti rests, and Morro Castle, which is a seventeenth-century fort built by the Spanish to protect the harbor and city.  The tour ends in the centre of the city at Cespedes Park, and you are free to wander on your own.  Dinner at the hotel. (Lunch NOT included)

Day 6 – Breakfast and transfer to Cuba’s oldest settlement, Baracoa, and one of the most beautiful areas in Cuba.  The drive will take us through some interesting small towns, lovely landscapes, and coastal views.  We will stop at a small coastal village for a seafood lunch…if it can be arranged.  The cost per person is approximately $15 USD, but an amazing experience.  We will stay at Hotel Porto Santo, overlooking the ocean.  Dinner at the hotel.

Day 7 – Breakfast and city tour before driving to  Playa Maguana, the most beautiful beach in this area.  You will have time to relax and swim in the ocean and we will have lunch prepared for us at a small resort.  Dinner tonight will be at Finca Duaba, a small farm in the countryside and a meal prepared in typical Baracoa style.  This is always a fun time.

Day 8 – Breakfast and transfer to the island of Cayo Saetia, to the east of Holguin…a game reserve with antelope, wild boar, zebra, etc. We will spend the night at a small lodge with plenty of areas to walk and private beaches to take a swim.  Lunch will be provided at one of the best swimming areas on the island. Dinner at the lodge.

Day 9 – Breakfast and transfer to the city of Holguin for a city tour and then head directly to Playa Pesquero to spend your final 2 days at Playa Costa Verde resort.

Day 10 – Day is free to indulge yourself.

Day 11 – Breakfast and transfer to Holguin airport.
