This thirteen-day Central/West Discover Cuba tour will cover some of the most popular but unique areas of this part of Cuba. I have made some changes to allow for a more leisurely and pleasant tour, but I have tried not to compromise the quality and will still include personal contact and excursions, which are so special to all my programs. Since this tour will appeal to people who have traveled to Cuba with me previously, you will have the option to go on the excursions or stay and enjoy the comfort of the hotels you will be staying at. Minimum of 8 people to confirm the tour and early booking by deposit is required. You will receive a list of all hotels and resorts once the tour is confirmed.
DAY 1 – Arrive in Varadero at Juan Gualberto Gomez airport. You will be met at the airport and transferred to the hotel and once you check in you are free to use all facilities at the property. (we will have a happy hour, at a designated location and time to get to know each other)
DAY 2 – Breakfast and lunch at the resort and then transfer to the capital city of Havana, hosting over two million inhabitants. We will check into our 4 star hotel located in the upscale neighborhood of Miramar and for those who like to walk…very safe location. Dinner will be at the hotel.
DAY 3 – Breakfast at the hotel and a panoramic tour of the city by bus to visit all the important parts of the city. You will take a break for lunch… not included. After lunch you will walk to all the major squares in Old Havana to experience the history and amazing architecture. Dinner at the hotel.
DAY 4 – Breakfast and transfer to magnificent Vinales Valley with its unique hill formations. A rich agricultural area with some of the best tobacco in the world. We will stay at one of the hotels overlooking the valley and have dinner at the hotel. Lunch NOT included.
DAY 5 – Breakfast and a scenic drive out to the north coast to a white sand beach…Cayo Jutia. Take time to walk the beach, swim and relax in the turquoise waters and have lunch. Return to Vinales and check out the small village. Dinner is NOT included, but we will arrange to eat at one of the unique village restaurants.
DAY 6 – Breakfast and transfer to Playa Giron in the ‘Bay of Pigs’. We will stay at a small resort on the Caribbean next to a museum dedicated to the battle of the Bay of Pigs, April 17 to 20, 1961. You will have time to visit, before leaving for Cienfuegos the next day after lunch.
DAY 7 –Transfer to the city of Cienfuegos, the ”pearl for the south”. It is a small, clean and very safe city situated on a huge, protected bay. Accommodation and dinner will be at central hotel. (this is also a place to have your laundry done by a local resident…have laundry in a bag with your name on it)
DAY 8 – Breakfast and transfer to the mountainous region to El Nicho park. The ride up through the mountains offers spectacular views and we pass through small villages and typical countryside houses. El Nicho is a gorgeous area with a small river cascading down the hill side creating waterfalls and swimming pools. You will have a Cuban style lunch here and return to the hotel in the afternoon. Dinner at the hotel.
DAY 9 – Breakfast and drive along the Caribbean coast before we arrive in the UNESCO heritage town of Trinidad. We will have a tour of the city with visits to a former mansion, which is now a historic museum, La Canchanchara bar and then you will have some free time to visit and/or purchase items from the local craft people and artists. We will have lunch at a local restaurant in the centre of the city and after continue driving through a very scenic valley and countryside to the historic city of Sancti Spiritus.
Accommodation and dinner will be a hotel in the centre of the city.
DAY 10 – Breakfast and transfer to Santa Clara and visit the Che Guevarra monument and mausoleum. We will have lunch at one of hotels in Santa Clara before continuing to the small city of Sagua La Grande. Accommodation and dinner will be at an amazing old hotel E Sagua.
DAY 11 – Breakfast and transfer to Varadero with accommodation at a beach resort in all inclusive. You will have a couple days here to relax or do further exploring on your own.

DAY 12 – Transfer to the Varadero airport for your return home
If you wish to add more days in Cuba, you can do so on your own or ask Sue at Square1travel to book a property of your choice.

- Trip insurance (cancellation and medical if required).
IMPORTANT: Flights to be booked once a minimum 8 people are confirmed. You will be informed and for this reason, it is important to book early.

Deposit: A $500 deposit is required at time of booking and can be done by cheque made out to Square1travel and mailed to the office (attention SUE). If you are using credit cards for payment of Cuba portion there will be a 2% service charge added or you can arrange an e transfer by calling Sue at Square1travel. When making your deposit, by cheque, credit card or e transfer (best option), please state the tour name and date as well as your name and email address in order to have a receipt sent to you.
