CYCLE TOUR Central/west
One week cycle tour: – November/December 2023

This is a one week program which will have you cycling some of the most beautiful areas in Cuba. Starting out in Santa Clara, in the province of Villa Clara you will ride along relatively quiet paved roads through small towns and cities with magnificent views of the countryside.  The tour will end in Havana. You will have a guided city tour of Havana to experience this magnificent colonial, world heritage city.  On day eight you will transfer to the airport in Varadero for your flight back to Canada. If you wish to extend your stay you can do so on your own and take advantage of the many Cuban attractions, or book into a beach resort for some r ’n r.

DAILY ITINERARY…(all distances mentioned are maximum per day and bus will make pre determined stops for anyone to get on and off:)

DAY 1 – Arrive Santa Clara. Accommodation and dinner at hotel La Granjita.  You will have time to assemble your bikes and have happy hour before dinner.

DAY 2 – Breakfast and cycle to Encrucijada a town to the north of Santa Clara.  We will stop somewhere for a Box lunch and then continue to the city of Remedios with accommodation and dinner at hotel Barcelona or similar.  (approx 75 kms total)

DAY 3 – Breakfast and cycle along rolling roads to the historic city of Sancti Spiritus. Box lunch. Accommodation and dinner at Rancho Hatuey.  (approx 114 kms total)

DAY 4 – Breakfast and cycle to the Heritage city of Trinidad. Box lunch.  city tour of Trinidad before continuing to a small resort along the Caribbean.  Accommodation and dinner at hotel Yaguanabo.   (approx 80 kms total).

DAY 5 – Breakfast and cycle along the Caribbean to the city of Cienfuegos…”Pearl of the South”.  Box lunch.  Accommodation and dinner at hotel Jagua.  (approx 60 kms total)

DAY 6 – Breakfast and cycle to aguada de passajeros. Box lunch. Transfer to Havana with accommodation and dinner at Memories Miramar hotel. (approx 70 kms total)

DAY 7 – Breakfast and city tour of Havana, tour through the new Havana with stops at the Revolution square and Colon Cemetery. Roundtour through La Habana Vieja Panoramic view of Parque Morro Cabaña, walk through La Plaza de Armas, la Plaza de la Catedral. Continue sightseeing old Havana viewing it’s typical and renowned places like La Bodeguita del Medio, El Floridita, free time and panoramic view of El Capitolio. Lunch not included. Accommodation and dinner at Memories Miramar 

DAY 8 – Breakfast and transfer to the Varadero airport.

Note that all distances mentioned at the end of each day are approximate cycling distances and you are free to do as much or as little as you wish. The bus will be available for you to board if you become tired.

  • Tips for bell boys, chambermaids, bar tenders (a collection is made at the beginning of the tour  for tips of guides and driver and you will be informed of the amount with other detailed information mailed to you once you sign up)
  • Trip insurance (cancellation and medical if required).

VALID PASSPORT REQUIRED 

Deposit: A $500 deposit is required at time of booking and can be done by cheque made out to Square1travel and mailed to the office (attention SUE). TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF PAYMENT WITH CUBA1TOURS IN ASSOCIATION WITH SQUARE1TRAVEL, COURTENAY, BC:

  • A $500 CAD deposit is required at time of booking and unless the tour is cancelled, it is NON- refundable, but can be held by Square1travel and put towards a future tour within a year.
  • Full payment due sixty (60) days prior to date of the tour. 
  • Once final payment is made it is 100% non refundable unless the tour is cancelled by the operator in which case it is then 100% refundable. 
  • Money for all Cuba tours is transferred to Cuba and their policy is “non refundable”. 
  • No travel documents are issued by Cuban tour operators prior to arrival in Cuba.
  • When payments are sent to Square1travel, you will be informed by the office when they arrive.
