Similar to all my tours, you will receive the best introduction to Cuba available. The tour begins with an overnight stay at one of the first towns in Cuba, Gibara…a small, seaside fishing village, before heading off on a fully guided excursion of the eastern region of the island. You will learn about the rich history of Cuba while discovering the culture, architecture, nature and most important, meet the people and experience how they live in this unique system. You will visit areas outside of the heavily traveled destinations of most tourists. This tour ends in one of Cuba’s premier tourist destinations, Cayo Coco where you will have three (3) nights at a 4 or 5 star all inclusive resort before catching your flight home to Canada.You will also have free time to do your own thing and since all my tours are limited to 20 people you will also get to know the people you are traveling with. DAILY ITINERARY (WESTJET flights are recommended as program based on Westjet flight schedules)
Day 1 – Arrive at Holguin airport in the north east end of the island and transfer to the coastal fishing village of Gibara where you will spend the night in a small boutique hotel in the centre of the town. This will allow you to walk around the safe streets and get your first taste of Cuba. We will either have dinner at the hotel or at a local private restaurant. (D)
Day 2 – Breakfast and transfer to the island of Cayo Saetia, to the east of Holguin…a game reserve with antelope, wild boar, zebra, etc. We will spend the night at a small lodge with plenty of areas to walk and private beaches to take a swim. Lunch will be provided at one of the best swimming areas on the island. We will go on a jeep safari in the early evening to view the animals. Dinner at the lodge. (B/L/D)
Day 3 – Breakfast and transfer to Cuba’s oldest settlement, Baracoa and one of the most beautiful areas in Cuba. The drive will take you through some interesting small towns, lovely landscape and coastal views. We will stay at either hotel El Castillo, on hill overlooking the town or at Porto Santo, overlooking the ocean. Dinner at the hotel. Lunch not included. (B/D)
Day 4 – Breakfast and city tour before driving to Playa Maguana, the most beautiful beach in this area. You will have time to relax and swim in the ocean and we will have lunch prepared for us at a small resort. Dinner tonight will be at Finca Duaba, a small farm in the countryside and a meal prepared in typical Baracoa style. This is always a fun time. (B/L/D)
Day 5 – Breakfast and transfer to the second largest city in Cuba and the cradle of all historical revolutions, Santiago de Cuba. The drive is great as we begin our ascent of the Farola viaduct to an elevation of 800 metres. The many curves and switchbacks, with lush vegetation and spectacular views makes for a memorable drive. We go from the Atlantic to the Caribbean and drive along the coast past the driest area in Cuba. We will stay at hotel Melia Santiago and have dinner at the hotel. Santiago is rich in culture, history with lots of entertainment available…..perhaps a baseball game. (B/D)
Day 6– Breakfast and a guided city tour to learn about the history and get an overview of this fascinating place. Included in the tour is a visit to the revolution square, the cemetary where Jose Marti rests, and Morro castle which is a seventeenth century fort built by the Spanish to protect the harbour and city. The tour ends in the centre of the city at Cespedes park and you are free to wander on your own. Lunch is not included, but a recommended spot to eat is at the Grand hotel patio overlooking the park. Dinner at the hotel. (B/D)
Day 7 – Breakfast and drive to El Cobre and a visit to a famous cathedral in the centre of a copper mining area. This is a very popular place for people to pray to the Madonna for a myriad of reasons. We will continue to one of the cleanest cities in Cuba, Bayamo and spend the night here in the centre of the city. You will have a short, guided tour and then time to wonder freely. Accommodation and dinner at hotel Royalton. (B/D)
Day 8 – Breakfast and transfer to the city of Camaguey, third largest city in Cuba and one of the most interesting. Depending on the time of arrival we will arrange for a city tour in bicycle taxis which will cost about 10 cuc’s per person, plus tip for the driver. The tour will take you to all the main locations in the central part of the city. Accommodation and dinner will be at one of the central boutique hotels. (B/D)
Day 9 – Breakfast and transfer to the pristine beaches of Cayo Coco where you will spend your final three nights at an all inclusive beach resort. The resort will offer different excursions…some include and some not.(AI)

Day 11 – Free day.
Day 12 – Transfer to the Cayo Coco airport for your return flight to Canada

- A $500 CAD deposit is required at time of booking and unless the tour is cancelled, it is NON- refundable, but can be held by Square1travel and put towards a future tour within 1 year.
- Full payment due sixty (60) days prior to date of the tour. Once final payment is made it is 100% non refundable unless the tour is cancelled by the operator in which case it is then 100% refundable.
- Money for all Cuba tours is transferred to Cuba and their policy is “non refundable”.
- No travel documents are issued by Cuban tour operators prior to arrival in Cuba.
